George Grosz / Groß was born in berlin in 1893 but died in 1959, he is best known for his drawings which he maneges to get a great sense of character in a small amount of lines. He was greatly influenced expressionism and futurism with his line drawings that he sometimes developed more with water colour. The subject of his art was often 1920's Germany (mostly Berlin), his works were considered by some as "anti German". This was because of his drawing of wounded soldiers, prostitutes and crime. When the Nazi's got into power they burnt a number of his works because of the the certain things he depicted.
